The tiny red heart is the cutest addition to any accessory! Backpacks, purses, duffel bags, keys, you name it! It is a perfect small gift for Valentine’s Day, you can also make wedding favors or party favors. Use my Red heart free crochet pattern and make your own cute red hearts.
The size of the red heart, which I made is 3.5 x 4 cm / 1.3 x 1.5¨.
What do you need for the pattern:
1. crochet thread #10
2. crochet hook 1 mm
3. stuffing
4. scissors
5. metal ring
About yarn
I mostly use cotton yarn.
If you would like to crochet a heart with dimensions as I did, I recommend you to buy the yarn of size 8 or 10 for crochet hook #1.3-1.5 mm/7-10, for example:
– For Europe: Deco 8, Deco 10, Multi 8 or 10, Sefora
– For USA: Red Heart classic 10, Artiste 10, Aunt Lydias classic 10
But you can also use a different weight yarn, note that the size of the heart will change.
About red heart free crochet pattern
This pattern is written in American terms:
MR – magic ring
ch – chain stitch
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
invdec -invisible decrease
inc – increase
FO – fasten off (1 sl st in next stitch, tighen stitch)
Realization
Use red yarn. Crochet hook 1 mm.
RND 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
RND 2: 6 inc (12)
RND 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)*6 (18)
Place stitch marker.
RND 4: 18 sc (18)
RND 5: (5 sc, 1 inc)*3 (21)
Now you can cut yarn here, and save the last stitch. Continue crocheting and make the second semicircle starting from round 1.
RND 6: 1 sl st – join 2 stitches from both semicircles and then, crochet 21 sc on one semicircle and 21 sc on another one (42)
RND 7: 42 sc (42)
RND 8: 10 sc, 1 invdec, 18 sc, 1 invdec, 10 sc (40)
