The egg warmers are approximately 5 cm / 2 inches if you use yarn weight sport or DK and 2 mm hook.

The size may change if you use a different weight yarn.

Materials

1. Cotton yarn weight sport: yellow for a chick, grey for a sheep, orange and green for a carrot
2. Crochet hook 2 mm / B-1 US
3. Yarn needle
4. Scissors
5. Pins
6. Black and white embroidery thread

About pattern
Skill level: Beginner / Intermediate

This pattern is written in American terms:
MR – magic ring
ch – chain stitch
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
invdec – invisible decrease (2 stitches together through front loops)
inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
hdc – half double crochet
(…)* – repeat the space in brackets the given number of times
Fasten off – 1 sl st to the next stitch, tighten it

Today, I’m sharing a set of free crochet patterns to create adorable egg warmers — a sweet chick, a fluffy sheep, and a bright carrot.

These tiny amigurumi‑style cozies bring a touch of whimsy to your mornings, whether you’re preparing an Easter brunch, decorating your kitchen, or simply adding a bit of handmade joy to everyday moments.

Each design is quick, fun, and beginner‑friendly — perfect for using up leftover yarn and letting your creativity bloom. So grab your hook, pick your favorite colors, and let these little spring friends hop, peep, and snuggle their way onto your table. 🌿🐣🐑🥕🐰

Main piece (chick, carrot)

Use yellow yarn for the chick and orange for the carrot. Repeat the same description for both of them.
RND 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
RND 2: 6 inc (12)
RND 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)*6 (18)
Place here a stitch marker.
RND 4: (2 sc, 1 inc)*6 (24)
RND 5: (3 sc, 1 inc)*6 (30)
RND 6: (4 sc, 1 inc)*6 (36)
RND 7-8: 36 sc (36)
RND 9: (5 sc, 1 inc)*6 (42)
RND 10-14 (5 rounds): 42 sc (42)
RND 15: (5 sc, 1 invdec)*6 (36)
RND 16: 36 sc (3
RND 17: 1 sc, 1 ch, and make 1 hdc in the same stitch, then (3 hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch)*17, 3 hdc in the last stitch, fasten off, cut yarn, and weave in the end of the thread.

Make five loops on the top of the piece for the chick

Attache yellow yarn to the stitch of round 1 (MR) and make 1 sl st, then (make 3 ch, skip one stitch, insert your hook in the 3rd st on the piece and make 1 sl st) repeat the pattern 5 times, fasten off, cut yarn, and weave in the end of the thread.

Main piece (sheep)

Use grey yarn for a sheep.
RND 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
RND 2: 6 inc BLO (12)
All stitches BLO until round 5.
RND 3: all BLO, (1 sc, 1 inc)*6 (18)
Place stitch marker.
RND 4: all BLO, (2 sc, 1 inc)*6 (24)
RND 5: all BLO, (3 sc, 1 inc)*6 (30)
RND 6: (4 sc, 1 inc)*6 (36)
RND 7-8: 36 sc (36)
RND 9: (5 sc, 1 inc)*6 (42)
RND 10-14 (5 rounds): 42 sc (42)
RND 15: (5 sc, 1 invdec)*6 (36)
RND 16: 36 sc (36)

RND 17: 1 sc, 1 ch, and make 1 hdc in the same stitch, then (3 hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch)*17, 3 hdc in the last stitch, fasten off, cut yarn, and weave in the end of the thread.

Make loops on the top of the piece

Attache grey yarn to the first stitch of round 1 and make 1 sl st, then (make 3 ch, skip one stitch, insert your hook in the 3rd st on the piece and make 1 sl st) repeat the pattern 45 times, fasten off, cut yarn, and weave in the end of the thread.

Sheep’s ear (2 pc)

Use grey yarn. Make 6 ch. Work around the chain, starting in 3rd ch from your hook.

Make 3 dc, 5 dc in the last stitch of the row, turn upside down and make 3 dc, 2 ch, 1 sl st in the main chain. Fasten off, cut the yarn leaving a tail for sewing. Sew the ears under the loops on both sides of the main piece.

Carrot leaf (2 pc)

Make 10 ch. Work around the foundation chain, starting from the 2nd ch from your hook.

Make (3 sl st on the foundation chain, 4 ch, work in 2nd st, make 3 sl st) x 3 (picture 64), 1 ch, work on the other side of the foundation chain and make (3 sl st on the foundation chain, 4 ch, work in 2nd st, and make 3 sl st) x 2, 3 sl st on the foundation chain (picture 65). Fasten off, cut the yarn leaving a tail for sewing. Repeat the same discription for 3 leaves.

Beak (chick)

Use orange yarn.
RND 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
RND 2: 1 inc, 5 sc (7)
RND 3: 7 sc (7)
Fasten off, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew it between rounds 11-13.

Embroider eyes, eyelashes, and sheep’s nose

Eyes for all of them: embroider the eyes on rounds 12-13 with black thread, then with white thread make a little spot on the top of the black pieces. Embroider 2-3 black eyelashes on each eye.

Nose: Embroider the sheep’s nose between rounds 12-15. Embroider the carrot nose between eyes, just a tiny line, you can also add few black tiny lines through the whole piece.

Draw a blush on their cheeks

You can use the pastel soft chalks and a paintbrush or your makeup blush for this.
